A small home, with the time to care properly.
Choosing a home for someone you love is a big decision. Here is a plain, honest look at how Hyland is staffed, trained and run — so you can judge for yourself.
A genuinely small home
Hyland is registered for just five residents, and we currently support four. That means care is personal, not processed — everyone is known well, and nobody gets lost in a crowd.
High staffing levels
A team of five carers supports the home. There are never fewer than two staff on duty, with three to four typically on during the day and two overnight — high support for a home of this size.
Qualified, experienced people
Our manager holds the Registered Manager's Award. The deputy manager is working towards his Level 3 in Social Care and plans to progress to Level 4, one carer holds Level 2 and another is about to begin hers, and our most senior carer spent many years working as a registered nurse.
Families kept genuinely informed
If there is something a family should know, we tell them — usually by phone, as soon as it happens. Where a family lives in a different time zone, we keep in touch by text so nothing waits until morning.
Independently regulated
Hyland is registered with and inspected by Care Inspectorate Wales. Our inspection reports are published on the CIW website, so you can read them for yourself.

The same faces, year after year
Hyland is family-run, and many of our team have been here for years. That continuity matters more than almost anything else in a small home: residents are supported by people who know their routines, their preferences and their moods, and families deal with people they already trust.
