Who do you support at Hyland?

Hyland is a residential home in Menai Bridge, Anglesey for adults with learning disabilities. We support people to live full, meaningful lives in a warm, family environment.

What are your visiting times?

There are no set visiting times — family and friends can come and go as they please. We simply ask visitors to be respectful of the times other residents may be asleep.

Where can visitors sit?

There are three communal rooms visitors can use, or visitors are welcome to sit with the resident in their own bedroom if they'd prefer some privacy.

Can a resident bring their own furniture and belongings?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If the furniture fits the room, residents are welcome to bring it, including their own television and personal belongings, so the room feels like their own.

Can a resident bring a pet?

Possibly. If the pet is suitable for the home, we would put a written agreement in place first covering how the pet will be cared for.

How are fees and funding arranged?

Fees are normally agreed between the home and the local authority rather than with the family directly. Please get in touch and we'll talk you through how it works.

What is included in the fees?

The base rate covers shared care and all hotel costs — food, laundry, cleaning of rooms, electricity, water rates and the TV licence. One-to-one care is charged separately at an hourly rate, and this is also normally agreed with the local authority.

How does someone move in to Hyland?

An assessment by the local authority is needed first. We then like to meet the person, show them around the home and take them for a day out with the other residents. A service delivery plan is written and agreed before they move in for a trial period, usually one month, which is then reviewed.

How do you keep families informed?

If something happens we phone families straight away. For families living in different time zones we send a text so they aren't woken in the night, and we follow up with a call.
