Safeguarding Statement

Last updated: April 2026

Our commitment

Hyland Residential Home is committed to safeguarding the welfare of every adult in our care. We believe everyone has the right to live free from abuse, neglect and harm, and to be treated with dignity and respect at all times.

How we put this into practice

  • All staff complete safe-recruitment checks (including DBS) and ongoing safeguarding training appropriate to their role.
  • We follow the principles of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 and the Wales Safeguarding Procedures.
  • We promote a culture in which residents, families and staff feel safe to raise concerns and know they will be listened to.
  • We work openly with Care Inspectorate Wales, our local authority safeguarding team and other partners.
  • We keep clear, secure records and report any concerns through the proper channels without delay.

Reporting a concern

If you are worried about the safety or wellbeing of a resident, please tell us straight away. You do not need to be sure — if something feels wrong, please raise it.

  • Speak to the Registered Manager or any member of staff in person, or call us
  • Use our contact form

External reporting

You can also raise a safeguarding concern directly with one of the following agencies. If someone is in immediate danger, always call 999.

  • Anglesey County Council Adult Social Services — for adult safeguarding concerns on Anglesey.
  • Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) — 0300 7900 126, careinspectorate.wales
  • North Wales Police — 101 (non-emergency) or 999 (emergency)

Confidentiality

All concerns are handled sensitively and confidentially, sharing information only with those who need it to keep people safe. Whistleblowers and family members who raise concerns will not be treated less favourably for doing so.
